Domenech managed to create a device composed of a glass container in which a flame was formed by the approach of two conductors and produced a light intensity impressive for the time. It should be remembered that this milestone took place before the invention of the electric light bulb by Thomas Edison in 1880.
That same year, in Madrid, lighting tests were carried out in the Congress of Deputies and in the Plaza de la Armería but, even so, the first roots of the Spanish electrical industry were established more than 20 years later, once again, in the city of Barcelona, when in 1875, several areas of the city were illuminated , such as Las Ramblas, La Boquería, Montjuic Castle and part of the upper area of Gracia.
