Why do they hack WhatsApp?
Why WhatsApp is the most used application in 109 countries, being a direct competitor to Facebook Messenger . In one year they have gained 200 million users, having more than 1.2 billion active users in 2017 .
This means that your girlfriend, friends, family members use it and this is when we overexpose ourselves to possible attacks.
In fact, this week a news item was published in La Vanguardia explaining that a message is circulating on the application warning of the threat of a video that can hack your phone . The trick is that they attach a link that redirects you to malicious websites .
Tips to protect your WhatsApp
From Coco's studio we want to help you have more privacy and be protected against these threats , with this series of tips:
Disable the last time you were online
From Settings/Account/Privacy go to Last seen time and inside select Nobody.
Restrict the display of your profile picture
From Settings/Account/Privacy go to Profile Photo and inside select Nobody.
Choose who can see your status
From Settings/Account/Privacy go to Status and select who you want to share it with.
Disable the blue cross
From Settings/Account/Privacy uncheck the Read Receipts option .
Hide notifications on the lock screen
From Settings/Notifications go to Pop-up notification and inside select “ Never show pop-up ”. You can do this for private or group messages.
Disable automatic download of videos, photos and audios
From Settings/Data & Storage in Auto-download you can choose what you want to download automatically. If you uncheck all the options nothing will be downloaded.
