The role of the chief information officer (CIO) has changed significantly in the digital era. From managing IT infrastructure to becoming a key business strategist, CIOs today sit at the intersection of technology and business, harnessing innovation to shape the organization’s direction, create value, and drive revenue.
The IDC FutureScape: Worldwide CIO Agenda 2024 Predictions study provides valuable insights into the future of the role. The report examines ten different predictions for the next four years and their impact on the CIO (see figure). We’ll take a closer look at the first five below.
1. Implementation of artificial intelligence, automation and analytics
By 2028, 85% of CIOs are predicted to be qatar mobile database organizational change to embrace AI, automation, and analytics, creating agile, insight-driven digital business. This means CIOs will have to be ahead of the curve in understanding these technologies and implementing them effectively within their organizations. In some cases, IT can leverage or train existing internal talent, but in other cases, CIOs will need to outsource the initial talent and support.
