Electronic commerce (or e-commerce) is a term referring to trade that uses the Internet as a means of exchange and communication between buyers and sellers.

Because the Internet has no territorial barriers, it is possible to reach consumers all over the world using this medium.

Global e-commerce offers many opportunities and has many interesting aspects that are worth exploring in more detail.

History of electronic economy - e-commerce
Important stages in the development of modern global communication were such issues as patenting the telegraph using Morse code, constructing a keyboard used in a typewriter, inventing the telephone. The undisputed breakthrough was the construction of the first computers, and then the appearance of the Internet. In 1991, the first Internet browser was invented.

In the US, in the early 1990s, the idea of building a national information infrastructure emerged. In 1997, a proposal was made to create a free trade zone on the Internet. This initiated the algeria b2b leads rapid development of e-commerce.

The global electronics market is developing dynamically and continuously. In Poland, unfortunately, this development is not as advanced as in the pioneering countries of the discussed process, but one can observe the gradual elimination of certain obstacles.

The main barriers that slow down the full use of the Internet in business include:
insufficient knowledge about the Internet among the management staff and people managing some companies

relatively slow connections

too few professional internet providers

reluctance to introduce a new organization in the company and new principles of its operation.

Appropriate legal regulations, as well as awareness of the importance of the development of the Internet among managerial staff, certainly have a positive impact on the development of the benefits of the electronic economy.

What are the most important barriers to the development of global e-commerce?
Marian Niedźwiedziński in his book "Global Electronic Commerce" lists such significant obstacles to the discussed phenomenon as:

Human barrier - primarily concerns issues related to the competences of individual people (it is no secret that, for example, the lack of knowledge of foreign languages significantly hinders the global development of trade).

Procedural barrier - mainly concerns the document handling of global trade. Document procedures often turn out to delay various issues related to trade and do not result in the effectiveness of the transactions carried out.

Infrastructure barrier - concerns the stability of the currency system, the availability of specific transport or banking services, the availability of business information, as well as the general level of trading security.

Barriers to e-commerce can be intentional, meaning they are caused consciously (trade bans or transport restrictions), or they can result from other reasons. There are undoubtedly certain factors that effectively inhibit the development of international trade, for example:

gaps in knowledge about the rules of the market economy

lack of clear rules in the public sector, corruption

infrastructural deficiencies

too complicated administrative and legal procedures

deficiencies in the technical efficiency of information transmission channels

export and import restrictions

unfavorable business environment (e.g. expansion of the black market).

The electronic economy currently uses many different technologies - e-mail, the benefits of the Internet, the electronic fund system, ERP systems, the possibility of conducting video conferences, and other systems that facilitate work and company management.

The ongoing globalization and development of teleinformatic systems continue to create new opportunities for conducting business. Global electronic commerce is developing systematically and rapidly, gradually eliminating the barriers to its evolution.
