On this occasion we had the great honour of having Miguel Ángel Moratinos, president of the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Spain and a diplomat of great experience; who in a relaxed and pleasant manner, and in a participatory atmosphere, spoke to us about the reasons for applying this Agenda 2030 and the enormous botim phone number data importance of private initiative in this regard. Moratinos also stressed that “natural resources are what they are and we live under planetary limits”, which is why sustainability is essential for our survival and that of the species that surround us, at the same level as peace and security. The former minister advocated sustainable growth that makes use of innovation and technology, and counts on the participation of professionals in these disciplines.

Although the 2030 Agenda arises from an entity such as SDSN —the international parent company to which REDS belongs, which is part of the United Nations—, private companies are undoubtedly the ones with the power to disseminate and provide economic support for actions for sustainability.
In the following video, Jeffrey Sachs, Global Director of SDSN, discusses the role of private companies in achieving the SDGs.

As we have already mentioned on other occasions, the business world is beginning to be truly aware of direct action in the field of sustainability. In addition, there are many studies that show that sustainability is a profitable asset for companies and that consumers choose products from companies that have sustainability in their DNA. The ecological profitability of a sustainable company should be more than enough reason to dedicate resources to this type of activity, but it is also economically profitable - even in the short term - for companies to focus on and get involved in achieving the SDGs.
It is no longer a question of Corporate Social Responsibility, but rather that sustainability initiatives, whether in the areas of ecology and the environment, equality, ending poverty, etc., form part of the core of the company. That being sustainable is not an attitude or a declaration of intentions, but a reality in the day-to-day life of companies.
