Who should perform Google Maps positioning?
To find out, first of all, you need to check whether our competition is displayed for the keywords searched by users and that are valuable to us.
We'll show you how to do it below.
Google business card optimization should start with finding keywords that will answer users' queries with the offer/product/information on the page. If you do not know how to conduct effective keyword research, we invite you to read the dedicated article How to choose keywords .
The next step is to enter the most important and most searched keywords into the search engine and check if Google Maps displays them. These can be general phrases (service/product) or specific to location (service/product + city).
If Maps are displayed and the competition is there, it is a sign that we should start optimizing and positioning our company listing in Google.

What is positioning in Google Maps?
The positioning of a Google Maps listing, just like a website, is made up of employment database many factors, based on which Google determines the appropriate position for our listing in Google for a given set of phrases. As usual, Google talks very generally about the positioning of a listing and what affects its position.
A business card position consists of:
Distance - This determines how far away a user is when searching for a company's products or services. The closer they are to the company, the higher the Google listing may appear in the results.
Recognition - This determines how well a company is already recognized for a given keyword that a user is searching for.
Relevance - How closely a company's Google listing and its content match the searched keyword.
We can manage our business card via the Company Profile Manager (formerly Google My Business ) and thanks to it we can publish various types of information in it, for example in the form of entries, i.e. meet one of the ranking factors - relevance.

1. Complete the basic NAP data (name, address, phone)
If you know how to set up a Google listing using the plan we discussed in the previous article, then it already includes basic contact information. It has a phone number and address, as well as opening hours and the name of the company, which are very important and are one of the ranking factors.
It is important that the Google business card has the same address that appears on the page in the "contact" tab, and that it links to the page, and the page to it. In the case of link building for the page, this will also have a positive effect on the business card and additionally we can count on the fact that opinions about the company from external services, e.g. Facebook, will also appear there.
