In the event of a POS failure, you have several options. The simplest is that if your POS is slow, ease the tension in line by providing refreshments and perhaps an additional special discount. Constantly let your customers know that you are very sorry this is happening and you are doing everything you can to inform them quickly.
In the case of a completely failed POS terminal, you can either make transactions in cash or take their card numbers for later and just send them home with their purchases. Many people feel awkward about giving away their card numbers this way, but frankly, the vast majority of people don't care.
8. Go the extra mile.
Black Friday shouldn't just be about surviving. It should some information about portugal be about thriving. Most stores on Black Friday throw away the idea of a good customer experience just to stay afloat. Don't be one of those stores.
Since shoppers don't expect a great shopping experience on Black Friday, and most stores don't try to provide one, you can easily surprise and delight your customers. The little things go a long way. Some ideas:
Offer shoppers free water, hot tea, and coffee. They're cold, and they're probably tired because they woke up at noon to join the chaos of Super Bowl shopping. Offering them some warm, caffeinated beverages will show you care. (Bonus: It'll keep your employees awake, too!)
You can even offer snacks to keep customers coming back. This particular trick has several benefits, such as keeping customers in your store instead of them leaving for food. Plus, hungry customers are the ones who beat others for food.
Staff your fitting rooms and floors with helpful salespeople. Your customers will be waiting a lot throughout the day - the more you minimize their wait time in your store, the happier and more memorable your store will be.
Take your experience to a whole new level and offer a customized Black Friday event for your best shoppers. On the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, take a page out of Taylor Swift’s playbook and invite 50 of your biggest sponsors to an exclusive Black Friday preview to get all the best sales without the risk of returning on Black Friday. Rewarding them for their loyalty will make them ardent brand ambassadors.
9. Treat your staff.
After all, your store is nothing without the staff that serves it. Reward your employees. Here are some ideas on how to make your staff happier :
Set up a buffet in the back of the house so they can eat whenever they want. It's the day after Thanksgiving, so you can have a leftovers dinner, too.
Pay half time to work on Black Friday. Costco does it , and they have the happiest employees of any major retailer .
Hold an employee contest to have fun. The contest can be related to a KPI or it can be something fun, like customer bingo. (Customer bingo is just bingo, but the boxes are related to who the salespeople helped and how. For example, one box could be "open with a store card" and another could be "help someone in a red shirt.")
